Description:
This position is responsible for planning and ensuring full implementation of all aspects related to the McNair Scholars Program. This position is responsible for ensuring that the service delivery infrastructure is clear of logistical and administrative obstacles; protect the stability, efficiency, effectiveness and development of the McNair Scholars program.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for development and implementation of the goals, objectives, policies, procedures and work standards for McNair Scholars Program.
Provides the planning, directing, and coordinating the operational and/or procedural matters.
Completes federal Annual Performance Report, BCP. WEAVE and Maestro.
Manages the development and implementation of the spring/summer research for McNair Scholars.
Collaborates with other campus departments to ensure appropriate faculty research mentors are available for McNair Scholars.
Stays well-informed on current research and best-practices in undergraduate research.
Oversight for continuous data collection on student success and retention including McNair goals and objectives.
Provides oversight and planning for the McNair Scholars Program budgeting.
Implements, reviews and approves all purchase requests.
Plans and implements McNair Day poster presentations and recognition luncheon.
Complete oversight and implementation of the McNair Research Journal. This includes the publication process.
Build and maintain relationships with students in the cohort through holistic advising meetings.
Research and develop culturally and engaging events for students in the cohort to develop a sense of belonging.
Review and approve all marketing material for McNair recruiting and events.
Provides guidance and monitors student cohort meetings.
Supervises, trains and evaluates the assistant director.
Provides leadership for project.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. in education or related field.
Six (6) years experience, which must include five (5) years experience in administration of higher education programs.
Demonstrated experience with undergraduate research programs.
Excellent organization, analytical, data collection and reporting skills. Self-motivated and innovative.
Capacity to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty mentors.
Able to work as part of a team using student-centered focus on helping to retain students throughout their higher education experience.
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Suites.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to interact with others.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two (2) years program development experience in higher education.
Three (3) years TRIO experience.
College teaching experience.
Demonstrated experience in sound budget management, resource allocation, analysis, and preparation of quarterly and annual reports.
Experience in initiating, planning, implementing, and evaluation of small to large scale events.
Experience working with first-generation, low-income (as an undergraduate) and/or underrepresented groups.
Familiarity with Argos.
Familiarity with Federal grant programs.
